FIBE Berlin 2025 – Two days that show what the future of the financial world really looks like

News, 21/04/2025

The future begins where innovation meets attitude – and that's exactly what FIBE Berlin 2025 enabled. For two days, the CityCube Berlin was a hub for exchange, international perspectives, bold questions, and concrete answers to the most pressing challenges in our industry.

Sopra Steria & Sopra Financial Technology in focus: innovation against financial crime

This year, one topic was particularly central for Sopra Steria & Sopra Financial Technology: Anti-Financial-Crime (AFC). Together with our expert team on-site, we demonstrated how we are already effectively combating money laundering, terrorist financing, and other forms of financial crime with the help of AI – all while being regulatory compliant and future-proof.

A special highlight was the personal conversation with Michael Biel, State Secretary in the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, who took a keen interest in our AFC solutions. This shows that politics recognizes how crucial modern technologies are for a secure and resilient financial world.

Our mission is clear:

  • Combine traditional compliance with FinTech innovation
  • Minimize regulatory risks without losing innovative power
  • Elevate the fight against financial crime to a new level with AI

FinTech Scene is reorganizing

The panels, discussions, and insights throughout the event have shown: The FinTech world is evolving – quieter, smarter, more global.

"It’s no longer just about disruption – it’s about smart collaboration." – Panel with bunq, Raisin, Holvi & Sequoia Capital

FinTechs are not replacing banks – they are reconnecting them. Investors are not looking for hype – they are looking for resilience. And the next wave? It is quiet. And it is already here.

Regulation meets reality: MiCA, DORA, FIDA, PSD3

Whether at DORA panels, crypto sessions, or open banking discussions: The new wave of regulation is no longer just future music, but reality. Harmonization, data protection, resilience, and innovation capability must now be considered together.

"Compliance and agility are no longer opposites – they are co-founders."

A clear call to action: Anyone still working with the playbook from 2019 is already too late.

Digitalization needs international partnerships

Germany looks towards the Baltics, India, Brazil – and learns. The panels on international cooperation showed:

  • The European payment infrastructure needs to become faster
  • API usage is still in its infancy
  • Open Finance now needs real implementation, not just roadmaps
Voices that remain

"A European Google or Mastercard does not emerge in politics – but politics can set the framework." (Dr. Jörg Kukies) "Bring back the Bank Advisor!" – spontaneous prompt in front of the FIBE Späti "FinTech is not dead. It is transforming. Quietly, precisely, and globally."

Our Conclusion

FIBE Berlin 2025 was not just hype, but a powerful statement: The financial industry is ready for the next chapter – with responsibility, new alliances, and technologies that have a real impact.

We at Sopra Steria & Sopra Financial Technology are right in the middle of it. And we look forward to continuing to work with our partners and clients on solutions that make our financial world safer, more efficient, and more human – as co-creators of a digital Europe.
